The Competition

Every year, the U.S. Department of Energy runs a national competition where college teams build a real, working wind turbine from scratch, and make the business case for where to actually put one. Windpack competes in both halves: our engineering teams design and build the turbine itself, while our Site Development team researches real locations, analyzes wind data, and presents a full project plan. NC State vs. the country.

What We Do

Three specialized teams, Mechanical, Electrical, and Site Development, work in parallel to field a complete turbine system. From blade aerodynamics and drivetrain design to power electronics, data monitoring, and real-world siting analysis, every discipline is on the field.
